Akita Epson opens new watch plant to integrate machining and assembly

March 27, 2020

New facility consolidates production processes

Seiko Epson announced on March 19, 2020 that its group company, Akita Epson, has completed construction of a new plant dedicated to watch production. The investment totaled approximately 600 million yen, and the total floor area of the facility is 3,808 square meters.

Previously, Akita Epson had split its watch manufacturing and assembly between its headquarters and the Ugo office. By integrating both parts machining and assembly at the headquarters, the company aims to streamline production and reduce overall manufacturing costs.

Logistics operations also optimized

In addition to centralizing manufacturing, the company is working to optimize logistics. Domestic product warehouses will be consolidated at the Seiko Epson Hino Office in Hino City, Tokyo. At the same time, bonded warehouses overseas will be secured and centrally managed to support global distribution.
