The exhibition specializing in grinding “Grinding Technology Japan 2021 (GTJ2021)” was held at Makuhari Messe in Mihama-ku, Chiba City from March 2nd to 4th, 2021. 107 companies and organizations such as domestic and foreign grinding machine builders and grindstone makers exhibited at GTJ2021. The total number of visitors for the three days was about 1,700. Exhibitors unveiled many new products at GTJ2021. Highly specialized exhibition
GTJ2021 is an exhibition specializing in grinding. It was for the first time to held GTJ in Japan in 2019. This time, due to the influence of COVID-19, the number of visitors decreased to one-third compared to the previous time. The total number of visitors for the three days was about 1,700.
However, there were many hot business talks between exhibitors and visitors. Ryohei Mukai, Chairman of the Japan Society for Abrasive Technology, said, “GTJ is a place where grinding experts can solve specific problems of visitors. This time, because of COVID-19, there is a tendency that really motivated people visited. ”
Large roll grinder / JTEKT
JTEKT, which manufactures cylindrical grinder and machining centers, exhibited for the first time the new product “GR7i-400 ULTIMATE”, a high-precision grinder for large rolls. This machine tool grinds shaft-shaped rolls with high cylindricity. Rolls are used when batteries for electric vehicles, semiconductors, thin films, etc. are manufactured.
The maximum length of the machining workpiece is 4 m. The cylindricity of the workpiece is 0.5 μm per 1 m. The GR7i-400 is equipped with a function that automatically corrects machining conditions with AI based on the measured machining load. Anyone can easily perform skilled work.
Exhibits cylindrical grinding machine with a moving grindstone stand / Okuma
Okuma, a leading machine tool builder, exhibited the CNC cylindrical grinder “GA26W”. The cylindrical grinding machine adopts a structure in which the grindstone stand side moves instead of the workpiece side. This structure helps reduce the footprint of the machine. The machine also has a function to control the tailstock that supports the workpiece with the NC device. It becomes more efficient to setup of various workpieces with different lengths.
