On February 1, 2022, Nachi, a manufacturer of hydraulic equipment, bearings and cutting tools, launched the “GMS100” skiving machining center (MC) for gears. “GMS100” can perform a variety of machining operations such as hobbing, turning and drilling in addition to gear skiving in one machine. The new machine is capable of machining small gears in a single chucking operation. The machine reduces the footprint by approximately 54% compared to a production line with multiple pieces of equipment such as lathes and gear cutting machines. The target is the small gear market for electronic components, automobiles, reduction gears, aircraft and medical equipment.
The outer diameter of the workpiece is between 3 mm and 100 mm, and the module is between 0.25 and 1.10. The sales target is 100 units per year.
