DataDesign (Nagoya, Japan; President: Takanori Okamura), a Japanese provider of 3D CAD/CAM software, held a small-group technical seminar in Nagoya on April 24 for its new “Form 4” stereolithography (SLA) 3D printer, which was launched in Japan on April 18 (=photo). The seminar was held jointly with Formlabs, a U.S.-based 3D printer manufacturer with which the company has an agency agreement.
The Form 4 has a redesigned mechanism that makes it about 3.5 times faster than previous models. High-power light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are uniformly irradiated through a special lens, allowing materials to cure faster and improving modeling accuracy. Other new features include a control system with a built-in camera and sensor, and an optical film that makes it easier to peel off the modeled material. “The strength of the Form 4 is its high molding speed. We want to offer it as a choice, especially for customers who make products in small batches,” said Hiroshi Okuma, channel sales manager at FoamLabs.
