Brother Industries unveils new SPEEDIO for medical and semiconductor use

Brother Industries held its “New Product Presentation 2025” over two days on April 17 and 18 at the Brother Technology Center, located within its Kariya Plant in Aichi Prefecture. The event featured new models in the SPEEDIO machining center series, which were launched in April.

Two models equipped with a 100-tool magazine were on display: the S700Xd2-100T and U500Xd2-100T. The 100-tool magazine holds 28 tools in the front magazine of the machine, and 36 tools each in tool stockers installed on the left and right sides. Tools can be transferred from the stockers to the magazine in approximately five seconds.

Also exhibited was the PC1 pallet changer, which can hold up to 40 pallets. In the demonstration, it was connected to the U500Xd2-100T, emphasizing its capability for unattended nighttime operation.

The new models are targeted at the medical and semiconductor sectors.

According to Tatsuo Terakura, Executive Officer overseeing the Industrial Equipment Business, Machinery Business Division,

“In medical applications, a single workpiece may require dozens of tools. Connecting two new models to one PC1 allows storage of up to 200 tools. We want to offer these models as a new option for customers who have been using machining centers with BT40 tapers.”

Each day of the event included two-part seminars introducing the new models, along with live demonstrations using actual machines.
