Shibaura Machine announced on May 18 that it will acquire 100% of the equity in US machine tool manufacturer Moore Nanotechnology Systems through its wholly owned subsidiary SHIBAURA MACHINE COMPANY, AMERICA, making it a group subsidiary. The acquisition is scheduled to be completed in the second half of this year.
Moore Nanotechnology Systems has built a strong track record and high brand recognition over many years in sectors including optics, aerospace, defense, medical, and automotive. The company also has a global presence beyond the United States, having delivered more than 1,000 machines cumulatively to customers in over 30 countries.
By bringing Moore Nanotechnology Systems into the Shibaura Machine group, the company aims to leverage its sales and service network to expand sales of Shibaura Machine’s core product lineup — including precision grinding machines — in Europe and North America, and to create new market opportunities in those regions. The acquisition will also support efforts to improve product development efficiency and reduce costs through resource sharing, as well as expand technical center capacity in the United States.
