Sugino Machine launched the “SUPEROLL SHX/SBX,” a new multi-roller burnishing tool for high-hardness materials, on July 29 as the latest addition to its SUPEROLL series of burnishing tools for mirror finishing metal surfaces.
The new tools enable high-precision mirror finishing in a short time even on heat-treated, high-hardness workpieces that were previously difficult to finish using roller burnishing. As a result, finishing processes such as internal grinding and honing, which previously required dedicated equipment, can now be consolidated on existing machine tools. This contributes to shorter machining times, lower costs, and higher productivity through process consolidation.
The tools are compatible with a wide range of machine tools, including lathes and machining centers, and are suitable for machining high-hardness components such as automotive transmission gears, hydraulic valve sleeves, and bearing inner and outer rings. The “SUPEROLL SHX” is designed for through-hole machining, while the “SUPEROLL SBX” is designed for blind-hole machining.
