Toyota Motor announced on May 30, 2019 that it would establish an affiliated corporation in Myanmar, Toyota Myanmar, in June 2019. It will start to produce Hilux from February 2021. The amount of investment is about 6 billion yen.
The company has imported and sold vehicles such as Hilux, Vios, and Rush from Thailand and Indonesia so far. However, Toyota Motor decided to establish Toyota Myanmar in anticipation of significant growth in demand for vehicles due to the economic development of Myanmar. An annual production capacity will be around 2500 units per year.
