On November 20th, 2017, Mitsubishi Materials announced that it would participate in OMIC R&D, a collaborative research institution in Oregon, USA. The institution was founded in June 2017, led by Boeing and six private companies in the state and three universities. It will promote research and development of metal processing technologies in cooperation with industry, government and academia, and will contribute to strengthen the competitiveness of the manufacturing industry in the state. Mitsubishi Materials will provide cutting tools and machining conditions necessary for research at the institution. It will also enhance its presence as a cemented carbide tool maker.
