November 29, 2019

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries announced on August 19, 2019 that it will construct a new aircraft engine parts plant, the New Combustor Center, at its Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works in Nagasaki City. The facility will serve as the Nagasaki Plant of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Aero Engines, which handles the group’s aircraft engine business.

New plant to support integrated production

The new facility is designed to establish an integrated production system for aircraft engine components. Construction will begin in October 2019, with operations scheduled to start in 2020. The company is investing approximately 8 billion yen in the project, and the building area will be around 5,400 square meters.

To enhance productivity and operational efficiency, the factory will adopt advanced technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI).
