JFE Steel and KDDI announced on March 17, 2020 that the 5G will be introduced to JFE Steel East Japan Works from April, 2020. As a first step, JFE Steel will install a high-definition ITV camera for monitoring the production line and KDDI’s 5G base station in the plant. The mechanism to synchronize and analyze the stored video and various trends will be constructed by transmitting 4K video captured by a camera through 5G. It is possible to check the video in real time from a 4K compatible monitor in the control room. As a second step, JFE Steel aims to make various quality judgments using AI based on images and various trends.
