Akita Epson builds new watch plant, integrating parts machining and assembly processes

Seiko Epson announced on March 19, 2020 that its group company Akita Epson has completed a new watch plant. The investment amount is about 600 million yen and the total floor area is 3,808 square meters.

Akita Epson used to manufacture and assemble watches at two locations, headquarters and Ugo office. The company aims to streamline production and reduce costs by integrating parts machining to assembly at Akita Epson headquarter.

The company will also streamline logistics by consolidating domestic product warehouses at the Seiko Epson Hino Office in Hino City, Tokyo, and securing and managing bonded warehouses overseas.
