MEIDENSHA establishes manufacturing base for substation equipment in South Carolina, U.S.

April 7, 2020

MEIDENSHA announced on April 6, 2020 that its US subsidiary, Meiden America, has established a new company, Meiden America Switchgear, in South Carolina, U.S. with operations set to begin in April 2020. Meiden America Switchgear will manufacture high voltage vacuum circuit breakers that interrupt fault currents such as by overcurrents. This is the first time that its group has established a manufacturing base for eco-friendly substation equipment in the United States. The demand for eco-friendly vacuum circuit breakers in North America has been increasing due to stricter regulations on SF6 gas, which has a high greenhouse effect, so MEIDENSHA aims to expand sales of its products and expand its overseas substation business.
