On February 12, 2021, Yano Research Institute revealed the research results of the global collaborative robot market in 2020.
According to the company, the global market of collaborative robots in 2020 decreased by 87.9% from the previous year to 25,474 units on a unit basis. In addition, the market of collaborative robots on a monetary basis decreased by 89.7% year-on-year to 89,813 million yen. The market in 2020 has shrunk due to the trade friction problem between the United States and China and the pandemic of COVID-19.
The institute also announced the outlook for the global market of collaborative robots by 2030.
The global market of collaborative robots in 2030 is expected to grow to 102,378 units and 223,082 million yen. By incorporating new technologies such as IoT, AI, and 5G into collaborative robots, it is expected that the introduction fields of collaborative robots will further expand.
As the number of companies producing collaborative robots is increasing, the cost of parts is expected to decrease in the future. Therefore, the institute expects that the price of the collaborative robot will drop to around 30% from 2020 by around 2030.
