Tokyo Robotics, a robot start-up, announced on January 15, 2021 that it will enter the market of vision sensors for robots. The start-up will launch the 3D camera “Torobo Eye SL40” as the first step. SL40 helps to automate 3D bin picking.
In general, high-performance 3D cameras are expensive. Inexpensive 3D cameras get low performance. Therefore, Tokyo Robotics has set out to develop a 3D camera with both good performance and price. The target market for SL40 is the manufacturing site. President Sakamoto said, “If there is a customer’s need, we would like to consider developing products with other measurement methods and stationary products.”
