Star Micronics to build machine tool plant to meet growing demand in China

On November 11, 2021, Star Micronics, a builder of automatic lathes, announced that it will build a new plant at the Star Micronics Manufacturing Dalian in China. The investment is about 650 million yen and the total floor area of the plant is about 5200 square meters. The new plant will be used for the assembly process of machine tools. In addition, the company plans to expand the machining process area of the existing adjacent plant to add more facilities to produce machine tools. The production capacity of the Star Micronics Manufacturing Dalian will be increased to 300 units per month, a 25% increase over the existing capacity. The new plant will start operation in February 2022.

With the COVID-19 infection beginning to subside, orders for machine tools remain at a high level, especially from China, which has recovered quickly from COVID-19 spreading. In order to respond to these strong orders, the company will expand its Star Micronics Manufacturing Dalian.
