KHI and Sony jointly establish company to launch remote control platform for robo

Kawasaki Heavy Industries, a manufacturer of transportation equipment such as aircraft and ships, and Sony Group, a video game and electronics equipment manufacturer, have jointly established a new company, Remote Robotics, which began operations on December 1, 2021.

Remote Robotics is in the business of remote control platforms for robots. The company plans to provide remote operation systems using dedicated robot controllers, work status monitoring systems, and equipment status management systems. The service is expected to be launched by the end of 2022. Remote robotics will begin demonstration tests during fiscal 2021 in grinding and polishing operations at EARTHTECHNICA, a Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group company, and in sorting systems for recycling bottles at Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ Harima works.
