Yamazaki Mazak, a leading machine tool manufacturer in Japan, has commenced full operations at its new plant in Pune, Maharashtra, India.
With a population of approximately 1.4 billion, India is expected to continue its economic growth, and the demand for machine tools is increasing in various industries, including automotive, medical equipment, aircraft, semiconductor, and others.
In response to these promising market conditions, the company has built a new plant in India, which started operations in March 2023. The new plant aims to provide higher quality products and quicker support to meet the growing demands of the Indian market. Specifically, the plant will focus on the production of the new “VC-Ez Series” vertical machining centers tailored for the Indian domestic market.
To celebrate the full operation of the new plant, the company held an opening ceremony on June 28. The event was attended by approximately 300 guests, including customers, distributors and other key stakeholders. Attendees had the opportunity to have a tour of the new plant.
The India plant is the company’s first overseas manufacturing facility in 10 years, following the Liaoning plant in China, which began operations in 2013. By establishing local manufacturing capabilities in India, Yamazaki Mazak aims to secure a more substantial market share in the country.
