OMRON obtains CNAS certification for Shenzhen plant

OMRON (HQ: Kyoto, Japan, President and CEO: Junta Tsujinaga) announced that OMRON Electronic Components (Shenzhen) (hereafter, Shenzhen plant) division Device & Module Solutions Company, obtained “China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS)” certification on June 26, 2023.  

Main experimental facilities in the Shenzhen Plant that received CNAS (durability testing room)

CNAS is an institution that certifies a laboratory meets the requirements set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), which are equivalent to those of the International Organization for Laboratory Accreditation (ILAC). The Shenzhen plant is the first in the OMRON group to be certified for its reliability in quality management and its advanced testing and evaluation technology. The Shenzhen plant has built performance evaluation test facilities for durability and heat resistance to ensure product reliability, with independent laboratories for each test. 

Based on Device & Module Solutions Company’s vision, “With Our ‘Connecting’ and ‘Switching’ Technologies, Resolve Social Issues with Customers”, the Shenzhen plant is accelerating the creation of solutions in China for the four areas of its business focus, with new value added as speed. In fiscal 2022, the Shenzhen plant established an engineering department to strengthen the development system and to realize autonomous activities in China, such as producing prototype products faster with a concurrent structure and proposing them to customers. With this certification, the Shenzhen plant will be able to provide test reports with the ILAC/CNAS logo, indicating the reliability of the test results, to widely prove the quality of the products in China, and to provide solutions to the market faster by simplifying evaluation tests on the customer side. 

Matsuoka, President of the Shenzhen plant, commented as follows:

Abbreviation for the National Approval Committee for China’s Certificate of Achievement. This system allows the National Approval Committee for China’s Certificate of Achievement to verify whether the equipment conforms to the requirements of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards for laboratories (ISO/IEC 17025), which are equivalent to those of the Japan International Cooperation Agency for Laboratory Accreditation (ILAC).
