Sodick has developed the “OPM250L+,” a high-precision metal 3D printer driven by linear motors, which combines 3D printing with metal powder melting and solidification, and machining functions. This new model marks a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the “OPM250L,” with improvements in machine structure and various functions.
The OPM250L+ is equipped with a standard “Material Recycle System (MRS)” that automates the supply, recovery and screening of metal powder materials. With the cartridge-style MRS, users can change powder materials within two hours, enabling the production of multiple materials in a short time. The printer is compatible with a range of powder materials, including aluminum and titanium.
Additionally, users can opt for the “dual-laser configuration,” which allows the installation of two laser oscillators. This feature doubles the printing speed compared to the previous model. Sodick has also developed a proprietary “fume collector” to remove and clean the metal vapor generated during laser processing. This innovation enhances the fume collection capacity during operation and significantly reduces the frequency of maintenance.
The OPM250L+ will be available from November with a sales target of five units per year in both domestic and international markets.
