“The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2020″, the largest machine tool trade show held in the US this year, was canceled.
The organizer, Association For Manufacturing Technology (AMT) gave top priority to the health and safety of exhibitors and visitors and decided to cancel IMTS in response to the spread of COVID-19.
IMTS is one of the four largest machine tool trade fairs in the world. IMTS2020 was scheduled to be held at the McCormick Place, convention center in Chicago, Illinois from September 14th to 19th, 2020.
Japanese machine tool builders have a strong presence in the North American market. The leading Japanese machine tool builders have large booths in the front row of the south hall to promote the latest technology to visitors at IMTS. The exhibitors will lose much of business opportunities in the North American market by the cancellation of IMTS.
Not only IMTS, but also “The 30th Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF) 2020”, the largest machine tool trade fair held in Japan this year, was canceled on April 21. While large-scale machine tool trade fairs have been canceled one after another due to the impact of COVID-19, Japanese machine tool builders are seeking new businesses opportunities using IT. Many builders recently have been promoting their products and technologies through seminars and exhibitions on their websites.
