On September 1, 2020, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Machine Tool launched the MV16Bx, a double-column machining center designed for heavy cutting of cast parts.
The machine has a footprint of 6770 × 4760 mm, which is approximately 40% smaller than the previous model. Despite the compact size, it features a table size of up to 1500 × 3260 mm, improving productivity per unit area.
The MV16Bx uses cast iron for the columns and bed, and incorporates a thermally stabilized structure along with a one-piece column bridge. These features enhance rigidity and dimensional stability during heavy-duty operation.
The machine adopts a slide guideway on the Z-axis to further improve structural rigidity. For the spindle, it employs a gear speed reduction system, allowing the MV16Bx to support a wide range of machining applications—from low-speed heavy cutting to high-speed machining with carbide tools.
