Amada, a major manufacturer in the sheet metal and press industries, announced on November 18, 2021, that it will enter the steel and steel frame market using its fiber laser machine technology. Until now, Amada has focused its laser machines primarily on thin and precision sheet metal processing.
Plasma cutting has long been the mainstream method for steel processing. However, a 2018 regulatory revision permitted hole piercing by laser, opening the door for laser machine adoption in this sector. Furthermore, a new regulation introduced in April 2021 placed restrictions on metal dust generated by plasma cutting, creating additional incentives to shift to fiber laser technology.
Amada Machinery, a group company of Amada, will launch the “LC-VALSTER-AJ series” fiber laser machines in April 2022. The series is designed to support high-speed hole piercing and cutting of medium- and large-thickness steel plates.
The LC-VALSTER-AJ series can be equipped with a 10kW high-output oscillator, delivering both high-speed and high-quality performance. Two models will be offered:
LC-VALSTER-6225AJ: maximum workpiece size of 6200 x 2580 mm
LC-VALSTER-3015AJ: maximum workpiece size of 3070 x 1550 mm
