TAKISAWA, a Nidec Group company specializing in lathes, began full-scale sales of the “TEX-2500S,” a lathe-based multitasking machine, in June. The machine features a dual opposed spindle configuration with an additional tool spindle, enabling a single machine to handle everything from turning to gear machining. Structural optimization has enabled a more compact design while reducing costs, while the machine inherits the high rigidity and accuracy that characterize TAKISAWA’s flagship “TMX series” of multitasking machines.
A defining feature of the “TEX-2500S” is its high production efficiency and compact footprint. The machine is equipped with a large-capacity ATC, capable of storing up to 30 tools in the standard configuration and up to 60 tools with optional expansion. This reduces the frequency of tool changes and improves productivity. The machine also uses a magazine layout that does not require rotation of the tool spindle during tool changes, reducing tool change time by 14% compared with the previous model and supporting more efficient automated operation. In addition, the installation footprint has been reduced by 30% compared with the previous model, making the machine easier to install even in space-constrained environments.
The machine accommodates workpieces up to 1,100 mm in length and 400 mm in diameter, with bar machining capability up to 80 mm in diameter.
