Newly launched SCARA robots: YE4 (left) and YE10
Yamaha Motor launched two new SCARA robots, the “YE4” and “YE10,” on July 23. The YE4 supports payloads of up to 4 kg and the YE10 up to 10 kg, covering a wide range of applications including small parts assembly, packaging, sorting, and inspection. High repeatability also makes them suitable for precision parts assembly and sealing operations.
The new models build on the performance of the existing “YK-XE” series. Improved motor heat dissipation enhances continuous-duty performance, while redesigned components help reduce manufacturing costs.
The YE series was developed in response to growing demand for SCARA robots, driven by the expansion of New Energy Vehicle (NEV) production and global labor shortages. With competitive pricing, Yamaha Motor aims to expand its market share across Asia, including China and ASEAN countries.

New robot controller RCX440
Yamaha Motor has also introduced the new “RCX440” robot controller for the YE4 and YE10. The controller retains the operating interface of the previous “RCX340,” enabling a smooth transition for existing users.
The resolver has been replaced with an encoder, enabling more precise position detection while reducing the number of components and lowering costs.
Lower power consumption also extends battery life for the absolute encoder, which stores the robot’s home position data. In addition, the battery is now mounted on the SCARA robot itself, eliminating the need for home position calibration during installation or relocation and helping reduce startup time.
