OSG launches A-SFT-AL spiral tap for aluminum alloy machining to improve machining efficiency

OSG has added the “A-SFT-AL,” a spiral tap for aluminum alloy machining, to its tap lineup as part of its high-end “A-Brand” cutting tool lineup.

Chip entanglement around the tool can reduce tapping efficiency. Machine stoppages for chip removal can also reduce operating efficiency and hinder automation.

The A-SFT-AL features a geometry optimized for aluminum alloy machining, enabling smooth chip evacuation. Its optimized shank length reduces the frequency of chip entanglement around the tool, improving production efficiency by minimizing the need for chip removal operations.

The tool also reduces chip entanglement when used on horizontal machining centers, enabling stable continuous machining. In addition, by reducing the number of machine stoppages, the tool contributes to lower power consumption.
