On August 30, 2018, DMG MORI held a ceremony at Yokkaichi Technical High School in Mie Prefecture to mark the free loan of its DMU 50 3rd Generation, a 5-axis machining center, to the school.
The initiative is part of the “Comprehensive Collaboration Agreement on Industry Promotion” signed between DMG MORI and Mie Prefecture in April 2018.
Yokkaichi Technical High School launched new courses in 2018 aimed at training engineers through corporate partnerships and hands-on experience. A new school building was completed in June 2018, and the DMU 50 3rd Generation is the first machine tool installed in the facility.
Practical training using the machine is scheduled to begin in October 2018, with participation from eleven students. The training will provide them with real-world skills in advanced machining.
At the ceremony, Hiroaki Tamai, Executive Vice President of DMG MORI, remarked:
“I am pleased that students will use our machines, which manufacture a variety of products. They represent the future of the manufacturing industry. We will continue contributing to the local community and cooperating with Mie Prefecture.”
