April 17, 2023
The 18th China International Machine Tool Show (CIMT2023) was held for six days from April 10 to 15 at the China International Exhibition Center (Shunyi Hall) in Beijing. About 1,600 companies from 28 countries and regions exhibited.
Yamazaki Mazak exhibited a total of 12 machines, including two models that made their debut in China. In addition to a variety of models, such as multitasking machines and 5-axis milling machines, the company also promoted its automation systems and digital solutions. Okuma exhibited eight models, including the “MU-4000V-L” 5-axis vertical machining center (MC) equipped with the latest “OSP-P500” CNC system. Brother Industries introduced its new compact horizontal MC “H550Xd1” with spindle taper BT30, which went on sale on April 4.
China is the world’s largest consumer of machine tools and one of the most important markets for the Japanese machine tool industry. According to the Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association (JMTBA), the amount of orders received from China reached a record high for the second consecutive year last year, supported by high demand related to automation and electric vehicles. Orders declined in January this year due to the Chinese Lunar New Year, but recovered to pre-Lunar New Year levels in February, and there are high expectations that CIMT2023 will be the trigger for an increase in orders in the future.
