Toyota collaborates with Joby Aviation to develop eVTOL to fly together

Toyota Motor announced on January 16, 2020 that it has signed an agreement with Joby Aviation to develop and commercialize all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft as a new sky mobility business. Toyota will leverage its strengths in vehicle development, production, and after-sales service to launch initiatives aimed at the early realization of the sky mobility business, which is expected to increase social needs in collaboration with Joby Aviation. Toyota will be involved in technological development of design, materials and electrification, and will share the know-how of the Toyota Production System (TPS).
