Japan’s machine tool orders in September : 84.1 billion yen

Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association（JMTBA）announced the machine tool order amount of September. Total amount of orders in September was 84.1 billion yen, increased by 23.7％ from the previous month. Domestic order increased by 31.2% to 30.27 billion yen, and foreign order increased by 19.9% to 53.83 billion yen.

The total amount of Japan’s machine tool orders in September exceeded 80 billion yen for the first time in eight months, partly due to the effect of the end of the first half of the fiscal year.

Regarding to domestic demand, the orders from all 11 industries increased month-on-month. The monthly domestic order level is still low at the 30 billion yen level, but it has been getting recovery. Regarding to external demand, the order from China exceeded 20 billion yen for the first time in 18 months. In China, there is demand in a wide range of industries such as infrastructure, automobiles, PC and tablets, and 5G.
