On April 10, Okura Yusoki announced the establishment of a new research and development facility, the “MIRAI Innovation Labo,” at its headquarters factory. The facility is a two-story steel-framed building with a total floor area of approximately 5,700 square meters.
The company established the facility to accelerate the development of material handling equipment incorporating advanced technologies such as AI and robotics. The first floor houses an R&D workshop for prototype fabrication and testing prototype equipment on actual machines, while the second floor features an open workspace. The facility is designed to integrate development, manufacturing, and validation processes, enabling the company to meet growing automation needs on factory floors and in logistics operations.
The company also plans to use the facility as a hub for open innovation through collaboration with research institutions and startups.
