FANUC announced on May 13 a partnership with Google.
The partnership will leverage technologies including “Gemini Enterprise” — Google’s enterprise generative AI with robust security capabilities — and Google Cloud computing services to deliver physical AI robot systems capable of autonomous operation in real-world environments.
For example, at the “New Product Exhibition” held at FANUC’s headquarters in Oshino Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, from May 18 to 20, the company showcased a system in which Gemini Enterprise interprets a handwritten parts order form and a robot prepares the requested parts.
FANUC previously announced a collaboration with NVIDIA in December 2025 as part of its efforts to deploy physical AI systems in real-world environments, and has shipped more than 1,000 physical AI robot systems since the 2025 International Robot Exhibition. The company plans to further accelerate the widespread adoption of these systems through its new partnership with Google.
One of the major barriers to wider industrial robot adoption is the complexity of teaching. When handled parts or production conditions change, robots often require reprogramming and reteaching, limiting flexibility in production.
FANUC’s latest initiative combines physical AI with robotics to enable more autonomous decision-making and operation. Yaskawa Electric is also pursuing physical AI-enabled robotics, and the convergence of robotics and AI is likely to accelerate further.
